TEAM OF EXPERTS BRING OLD FORD CORTINA BACK TO LIFE FOR CHARITY

The team at North Oxford BMW and MINI is delighted to announce that its selected Sobell House as its chosen charity for 2018!

Last year saw a team of 13 runners participate in the Oxford Half Marathon, the team had numerous bake sales and sponsored sports events but recently its been working on something a bit different in a plan to raise some more funds for this very worthy cause…

Last year the company’s MD William Le Fevre went to a charity auction at Classics On The Crick and purchased an original 1980s Mk5 Ford Cortina. This car was a barn find from the High Wycombe area; rescued from a garage where it had sat since 1997.

William passed it over to the team of car experts to see if they could restore the car in the new state-of-the-art body shop at MINI, Long Hanborough and sell it on with all proceeds going to Sobell House.

A team of volunteers quickly got to work on it and have spent hours of their free time turning this car into a masterpiece. The car was stripped right back to a shell, new wings fitted and the whole lot re-painted like a new car. As many new parts as possible were employed in the re-assembly; although they’ve done their best to conserve what’s there too.

The team’s hard work has resulted in a stunning success. The Cortina has been brought back to life and is a real work of art. Take a look at the photos below showing the car at various stages of its restoration.

Thank you to all those who took part in this project!
